Jelle Pingen
Hi there! My name is Jelle Pingen and welcome to my little space on the internet.
I was born in a small town in the south of the Netherlands, but I currently live in the city of Enschede to study Creative Technology (or CreaTe, in short) at the University of Twente.
I’ve been creating websites for quite a while now. I specialize in creating beautiful, but most of all effective designs and writing semantic and valid XHTML and CSS. I enjoy finding creative solutions for coding problems. Not too long ago I dived into the world of creating WordPress themes.
I also design interfaces, ranging from ‘fantasy interfaces’ (just eye candy, basically) to fully functional media player skins. Most of my skins will be for the Xion Audio Player, an ultra light and easily skinnable media player.
I’m very eager to learn new things, and to improve my current skillset. I’m hoping to be able to add custom PHP-scripts to my ‘Services’-list in the near future. Javascript is also on my to-do list, but that will have to wait.
About this site
This site runs on the wonderful system of WordPress, with a complete custom theme I made. In the back I got a few plugins running. A small overview of tools and plugins I use:
- Google Analytics for WordPress; one of the most popular WordPress plugins that exist. It adds the Google Analytics code into the site, so I can easily track everything that happens around here.
- Contact Form 7; the name of the plugin says it all really. I use this plugin for the contact form that you see on the homepage.
- WP Maintenance Mode; a nice little plugin that, when activated, adds an ‘Under Construction’ page while allowing me to change anything on the site.
- Post to Twitter; you can probably guess what this one does. That’s right, it automatically sends a tweet when I post a new blog item.
- Google’s Font API; this nifty tool allows me to embed a custom font. I’m using the Molengo font family for a few headings and titles across this site. It is compatible with most of the modern browsers, but it is, unfortunately, not supported on the iPhone/iPad or Android yet.
